Heystrangersfilms

HEYSTRANGERSFILMS is an innovative project born from filmmaker Yassine’s post-quarantine desire to break out of his comfort zone and enhance his social skills. The concept is simple yet powerful: approach strangers, say “Hey,” and film them. What began as a personal challenge to combine Yassine’s passion for filmmaking with the need to reconnect with people has evolved into a unique form of visual and audio storytelling. Through these spontaneous encounters, Yassine not only improved his filmmaking and communication skills but also created a platform that celebrates human connection and diverse stories, transforming fleeting moments with strangers into lasting art.

Mehdi Nabil, Liveroomproject, Morocco

“ I first hired Yassine as a filmmaker and photographer for the Haraka Festival in 2021. It is an international contemporary dance festival, this year featuring dance companies from Morocco, Spain, Ivory Coast and France. Yassine’s job was to document the festival. As he did a great and professional job, hiring him again while I was organizing the socio-cultural project “Corps croisés” was an evidence for me. I really found in Yassine a filmmaker and photographer I could trust, both in the quality of the production and the seriousness of his work.”

Othman Sellami, Haraka, Morocco

“ When I saw myself dancing in Yassine’s footage, I came to understand my own movements in a different way! He has a special eye for movement and dynamics; his surprising compositions and camera movements enrich and expand the corporeal expression of his models. But no matter what he films, whether it’s dance related or not at all – what remains constant is his musical, rhythmic and surprising edits that make his work truly captivating.”
